The Blind King

The Blind King

The blind king rides to conflict after conflict, bent on upholding his collapsing kingdom. The arrows of the last war still remain within his body and bleed him slowly. Without eyes to see, he is guided by rage, charged with the pain of old wounds. In the background, his tower has toppled through neglect. Even if he wins this way, he returns only to ruin. And yet it may just happen to pass that some humble stranger finds him, unconscious and propped up against a tree, somebody who can see his wounds, help him to remove the thorns, and bring closure to the conflict raging within him. He will forget his crown and fall into another dream, where he finds himself a quiet man, still blind but now guided by the heart, and wearing the scars of his path and its wisdom.
